CONGRATS to The FIrst Presbyterian Church of Whippany Mission Team for winning the Golden Plunger Award for going above and beyond with their hospitality duties!!!! They not only kept the facility clean they did it with style and pizzazz!!
I cannot brag enough about our youth! Not only did they travel with a smile to Maryland as the dashboard of the Van lit up like a Christmas Tree - they made the best of it and didn't complain even once when they arrived late to camp due to stopping at an auto parts store!
Then all week on the sites and back at camp they never forgot WHY they were on a MISSION trip. It wasn't just a vacation but they were doing the Lord's work with their hands! They stepped up and put other peoples needs before their own and we were proud of them!!!!
I would take them anywhere - any time!
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from Whippany
to D,C, for worship.
I know you have heard us praise our youth before but this time WOW! We set out for a 4 hour and 25 minute drive to Woodbridge VA (Just outside D.C.) on Friday early afternoon. Everyone was excited to get to VA and meet other youth from the east coast.
What we didn't know is our Nor'easter had other plans for us!
We were so excited that we made it out of New Jersey's wind, snow, sleet and rain....no problems! Clear sailing ahead right? NOT!
Upon approaching the bridges to cross over the Susquehanna River the winds picked up and then....they all closed! Not only were the bridges closed, all the side roads were closed because of fallen trees....every single road (believe us....we tried quite a few of them).
There we waited, over 9 hours,
to cross a bridge that was only 1.5 miles long.
Now 16 hours and 22 minutes later we finally made it to our hotel in Woodbridge VA - yes that is not a typo - we left Whippany at noon and arrived at the hotel at 4:22AM!
The amazing part is not one person complained....not even once.
There were no gas stations, no convenience stores, no where to pull off, nothing.... just woods on each side, highway ahead
and high winds all around.
So now our new roadtip song is...
Life is a Highway
and we want to ride it all night long!
What a stinky way to spend Valentine's Day but in the hospital! We wanted to show Emily (one of our newest youth group members) that she is missed and surely loved by the youth group so.... the youth decided to make her a video to cheer her up.
For all you VeggieTale fans you will love this one...
"Jonah: Even Fishslappers Deserve a Second Chance".
We hope you enjoy the story!
If you want to send Emily Get Well Wishes you may do so by clicking on the link below and type her a message in our email site.
**Take the Time to be Kind. You can make all the difference in someone's day!**
We are very excited to announce the youth group will be attending a Christian Conference outside of Washington DC in March. If you are interested in going on this retreat please contact Joanne or Elisa ASAP! Seats are limited ... so hurry!

I cannot express enough what a pleasure it is to hang out with such a great group of youth. Not only do they have a serving heart and have no problem putting plans aside to help others, they make the best out of off situations.
Tonight they went to a Holiday Light Show that stated there was a walk through light show, ice skating, bonfire and smore's station. Well.... the drive through light show was fabulous and it went down hill from there. The ice skating was not even ice and way to small of an area to skate on, the walk through lights were nothing more than that of what you see on someone's front yard. We can say the bonfire was nice and there was good food. BUT....did one youth complain about the evening and how there was not too much to do? NOPE! They made the best of it. They enjoyed the fire, watching Skrek, eating, eating some more and playing hokey carnival games!!!
Thank you to everyone to didn't complain, had a great time knowing it is mostly about the people you are with and not what you are doing that makes a great day!
